upcoming fall respite retreat:  OCT 12-15, 2023

This respite retreat is for married couples who are grieving the loss of a child.
The loss may have been many years ago, or it may have been recent.
We ask that only married couples attend because we will be sharing about the impact of how your loss has affected your marriage and encourage each other in this regard.
You are welcome to attend regardless of whether your marriage is in a healthy place, or if your marriage is struggling.
You may not feel up to sharing, or you may be very eager to share. There is no expectation for sharing. W
e want everyone who attends the retreat to feel as comfortable as possible.

We share, we pray, and we worship in community with each other. We gather together to share about:
  • the common threads of our stories and how we can grieve together in community
  • how our children are experiencing grief, and how to help them process
  • the impact of our loss & grief on relationships with friends and extended family
  • meaning, purpose and finding joy
  • God's role in our grief
Our retreats encompass large group times that have directed conversation. We also eat together, worship together and spend time relaxing. The retreats are not group therapy sessions. They are also not a support group of a secular nature, we are very much focussed on Christ and His love for us.

Can I (or a group of us) give a Respite Retreat as a gift?
  • Yes, absolutely. You can contact us to donate towards the cost of a retreat for someone and we will give you a gift certificate.
  • It is natural to want to give something to someone who is grieving as an act of love, but we often don't know what would help. Gifting a Respite Retreat is a wonderful way to let people you care about, know that you recognize that their grief from loss is a life-long journey, not something to "get through", and that you are there to support them in community.
What can I expect at a Respite Retreat?
  • A warm, welcoming environment. There is no judgement here. Only a safe & understanding place to share your story, your struggles, your doubts & fears, your hope & joy.
  • Coffee & tea area in the gathering cabin throughout the weekend AND a make-your-own smoothie area available throughout the weekend.
  • Friends who are journeying through the same type of grief, who are there to talk, listen or just be with you.
  • Several indoor & outdoor spaces for you to use while you connect & rest.
  • Private & communal spaces to use.  Some have WiFi, and some intentionally do not.
  • Use of the 45 acre forested property.
  • We have LOTS of art & creative materials for you to use during the recreational/free time (water colour & acrylic paints & paper, mini weaving looms, knitting needles, etc). Let us know what you enjoy and we will let you know if we have it. If we DON'T have it, you are welcome to bring it with you. (please ask permission first, as there are some things we do NOT allow: like firearms, quads, dirt bikes, etc.)
